Nisei Veterans Committee Hall & Japanese American Memorial Wall

From 2004-2008 SPD designed an extensive remodel to the existing community center for Japanese American war veterans; a place for social, historic, and educational purposes. The program included a gymnasium and multipurpose room, gallery and display areas, kitchen and dining areas, and space for community outreach and education. From 2009-2011, SPD designed the Japanese American Memorial Wall on site and expanded parking for the NVC facility. The Wall memorializes people interned during World War II, along with those of Japanese ancestry who left the camps to serve in the U.S. military. As of early 2012, 3,000 bricks have been installed on the Memorial Wall.
